This STELLAR Broadband Web Services Privacy Policy sets forth STELLAR Broadband’s commitments to customer privacy, cybersecurity, and two-way SMS compliance as of January 1, 2025.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to STELLAR Broadband-branded websites, mobile applications, Wi-Fi access services for non-subscribers, and other interactive features that link to this policy.
2. Categories of Information Collected
STELLAR Broadband may collect the following categories of information:
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII) – such as name, address, phone number, email, payment details.
- Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) – service usage and configuration information, protected under FCC rules.
- Non-PII and Technical Data – IP address, device identifiers, browser type, usage logs.
- Two-Way SMS Data – mobile number, message content, metadata, and preferences.
3. Use of Information
STELLAR Broadband uses collected information to:
- Provide, maintain, bill for, and troubleshoot the Services.
- Authenticate and secure accounts.
- Communicate regarding accounts, outages, installations, and support (including SMS, if enrolled).
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- Comply with applicable law, including FCC CPNI rules.
- Send marketing communications.
4. Two-Way SMS Communications
STELLAR Broadband’s optional SMS programs provide account and service updates, outage notifications, installation scheduling, billing reminders, authentication codes, and support. Enrollment constitutes consent. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies; carrier rates may apply. SMS numbers and data are used only for service delivery, legal compliance, and fraud prevention. STELLAR Broadband does not sell SMS data or disclose it to third parties for marketing. In addition, STELLAR Broadband will not share, disclose, or license customer phone numbers or SMS opt-in consent information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. Such information is used solely by STELLAR Broadband and its contracted service providers to provide the SMS services for which you enrolled, to comply with applicable law, and to protect against fraud or misuse.
5. Sharing of Information
STELLAR Broadband does not disclose PII, CPNI, customer phone numbers, or SMS opt-in consent information to third party marketers without customer consent.
Information may be shared as follows:
- With contracted service providers under confidentiality obligations.
- With affiliates within the STELLAR family for service delivery and support.
- For legal reasons when required by subpoena, court order, or to protect rights or safety.
- In business transactions, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to customers.
6. Retention & Disposal
Retention periods are as follows:
- Billing records – 7 years.
- Support records – 3 years.
- Device and diagnostic logs – 24 months.
- Two-Way SMS content – up to 24 months.
Data no longer required is securely destroyed or irreversibly anonymized.
7. Cybersecurity Safeguards
STELLAR Broadband maintains a security program aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), patching and vulnerability management, monitoring, annual penetration testing, vendor security reviews, and employee training.
8. Data Breach Notification
STELLAR Broadband maintains an incident response plan and will notify affected customers without unreasonable delay in the event of a data breach, consistent with Michigan Identity Theft Protection Act and FCC CPNI rules.
9. Customer Rights
Customers may request:
- Access to their information.
- Corrections to inaccurate information.
- Deletion where not legally required to be retained.
- Opt-out of marketing communications and certain uses of CPNI.

10. Cookies & Tracking
Cookies and similar technologies are used for authentication, personalization, analytics, and advertising. Customers may manage cookies in browser settings. STELLAR Broadband honors recognized opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC).
11. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13. STELLAR Broadband does not knowingly collect information from children. Parents may contact info@stellarbb.com to request deletion of any inadvertently collected information.
12. International Visitors
STELLAR Broadband’s systems are located in the United States. By using the Services from outside the U.S., you consent to transfer and processing of your data in the U.S., which may not offer the same protections as your home country.
13. Changes to this Policy
This Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be posted on https://www.stellarbb.com and communicated through customer accounts or email as required by law. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
